The BIG FIX Uganda is registered in Uganda as an International NGO (Non-Governmental Organization). Our registration number is 8229. See our Work Permit. We work in Gulu City and the districts of Gulu, Oyam, Amuru, Pader, and Nwoya.

The BIG FIX Uganda's Dog Hospital, Dog Lodging, and Volunteer Guest House are located 15 minutes drive from the Gulu Main Market. Take Jomo Kenyatta Road and branch right at our signpost just before Pageya Trading Center. Follow the branch road 600 meters from the signpost, staying right at the branches in the road.

We are very proud of our exceptional team which carries out The BIG FIX mission every day. Our staff members include:
Staff Demographics:
Our full time staff in Uganda consists of 18 Ugandans (8 women and 10 men). Our staff includes one team member with a disability (visual impairment). We aim for inclusion and gender diversity in all engagements.
Organization Leadership:
The activities of the organization are managed on a day-to-day basis by the Executive Committee led by Sarah Schmidt (President), and including Tracey Talentino, Andrea Kennedy, and Stacy Mendell. The executive committee members serve on a volunteer basis. Under the oversight of the Executive Committee, a management committee consisting of department leads ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of activities. The department leads include: Odoch Honest (Executive Administrator), Francis Okello Oloya (Comfort Dog Project and Education Manager), Ojok Samuel (Hospital Administrator), Ayot Suzan (Animal Welfare Team Supervisor), and Dr. Sseguya Bill Kizito (Lead Resident Staff Veterinary Doctor).
The Scientific Advisor for our Comfort Dog Project is Meg Daley Olmert, author of Made for Each Other: The Biology of the Human-Animal Bond, and Research Director for Warrior-Canine Connection.
The Board of Trustees are: Dr. Brenda Forsythe, D.V.M., Dr. Benard Agwai, Kathryn McDonald, Andrea Kennedy, and Sarah Schmidt.
Our organization leadership includes individuals with expertise in veterinary medicine, business management, dog training, animal behavior, the human-animal bond, animal assisted intervention, trauma recovery, animal care and lodging, education, and law.
Except for our paid staff in Uganda, The BIG FIX is a volunteer-run organization with the volunteers and board members covering all of their own expenses, including travel costs to/from Uganda.

The activities of The Big Fix Uganda are under the ultimate supervision and leadership of The Big Fix. The Big Fix is governed by a Board of Directors.
The directors serve without compensation, cover all of their own expenses, and are expected to actively participate in providing funding and providing mentorship and other support for the programs in Uganda.
The Directors are: Dr. Brenda Forsythe, President; Sarah Schmidt, Secretary/Treasurer; Kathryn Mohan McDonald, Meg Olmert, Philip Tedeschi, Dr. Antje Joslin, and Laura Austin.
